Spring session with @thesnowpros Northwest Region for some Ed staff training at Mt Hood. It was awesome to get together with this crew and work through proposed updates as part of the national alignment project!

The last three years have gone so fast, and yet reflecting on the 21-24 term of the @thesnowpros National Team and trying to pull out just a few highlights was a daunting task, because there are so many highlights.

Serving the PSIA-AASI membership through my second term on the team has been an honor, and I can’t wait to see where the next team leads the organization!

The Snowboard Team, @agan613 @lyndseysnowboards @stephwilkers @mountainchuck @slippery___slopes @capnr3dbeard @tmacri1 @erollsy, and of course our friends on the Alpine, Tele, Cross Country, and Adaptive Teams, our amazing sponsors, and all of the incredible staff across the regions and National office of PSIA-AASI that support lifelong learning: thank you all for so many great times!

It’s April, and with Rider Rally only a few week

It’s April, and with Rider Rally only a few weeks away, the @aasi_team is kicking off a new video challenge series.

One team member will start a sequence with a video and tag a couple of AASI educators. When you’re tagged, remix the video and add your own shot to the sequence!

Kicking it off with a white room! @slippery___slopes @corianne333 @yedi_grams Tag, you’re it!

Make a "sequence" edit using the 3 dots in the lower right corner of the reel. Add your white room to the sequence and challenge three PSIA-AASI members!!

Learning to change edges on steeper or bumpy terra

Learning to change edges on steeper or bumpy terrain can be intimidating. In previous videos we’ve covered front knee steering. Today we’re going to work on flexing to start the next turn.

On flat ground, stand with your weight on your toes. Flex, move across to your heels, and extend. Down, over, and up. Repeat this to feel the movements and the timing.

Now apply those same movements in some basic turns. Feel how you can flex to quickly initiate the turn, and then progressively extend to shape the turn.

As we move back onto steeper ungroomed terrain, focus on the timing and intensity of your flexion to initiate the turn around a bump. The faster you flex down, the quicker the turn will come around. Extend to manage pressure and shape the turn.

Explore these movement patterns in different terrain to find where they’re most effective!
